and it has a gay character that HASN’T been written one-dimensionally (in fact he’s also a truly heroic character) — you can pass this on to the other gay man at your writing course who thought that being a best-selling writer meant stepping away from telling the truth

I feel the same way. What a shame, such a good author lost his way.
