Yesh
My friend Brian put together this website. It’s going ‘live’ tomorrow, and like an expectant parent I’m excited, giddy, nervous. I’ve never had a website. We spent a long time on the phone tonight covering details and little flourishes. (Should the ‘about me’ page say ‘about’, ‘about me,’ or ‘About Me?’)
He fixed things, made some updates and we talked again. We got off the phone tonight with three more changes to make. Brian was patient and calm, laughing and really pleasant (as always). When we were getting off the phone, he said, “Okay, well, I probably won’t make those changes tonight, but I’ll do them tomorrow.”
WAIT! What about RIGHT NOW?
I looked at the clock and realized that it was almost 9:00 p.m. He had worked all day. Then he worked all evening for me. He never once said managed the time or said, “No way. Not tonight.”
I am grateful I met Brian 11 years ago, the first weekend I moved to Minnesota.
I am grateful when I call Brian and he answers the phone in his creepy falsetto voice, saying, “Heeellllllllllllllllllllooooooooooo?”
I am grateful for the beautiful website he designed.
I am grateful for his patience with me.
I’m grateful he had the courage to pursue his dream of running his own business. (Start Spark!) He has inspired me over the years to consider, ‘What could I possibly accomplish?’
I am grateful for the quiet and soft way he says, “Yesh” when I ask him a question and he’s responding in the affirmative.
