The God Box
Tonight I was on the phone with Tigg, describing a problem in which I’m quite worried about the outcome. I was fretting about how it could turn out this way or that way…what should I do?
Tigg said, “Do you have a God box?”
Uh…no.
Tigg said, “You get a box. Decorate it. Color it. Put whatever calls to you. Write on the outside of the box, ‘God box.’ Then you write down what you’re worried about. Write it on a piece of paper, fold it up and put it in the God box. Let God handle it. You, let go.”
This made sense.
“A month from now, take out the paper and read it again. Are you still invested in controlling the outcome? If yes, put it back in the box. If you’ve let go, throw away the paper.”
I smiled.
Tonight I am grateful for Tigg and I am grateful to be the proud owner of my very own God Box.

[...] It struck me that this is one of those times when I’m making a mountain out of a molehill. I should call her and let her know it hurt that she never replied. The crisis at that time has long since been resolved, but I’m still zinging from the hurt of her not replying. I’m not sure whether to call her and try to work through this or take this as a sign of the inevitable final step of a drifting friendship. I guess this is a good topic for my God Box. [...]
